Video poker has long been a favourite among casino enthusiasts. Degen Casino offers a range of options for players looking to enjoy poker on the go. As a mobile gaming enthusiast, I've put the platform through its paces, evaluating the casino strictly from a mobile user experience perspective. Let’s unpack the strengths and weaknesses of playing video poker at Degen Casino.
The Verdict
Mobile video poker at Degen Casino provides a decent experience, but it’s not without its flaws. The overall design is functional, yet there are areas that could use some improvement, especially in responsiveness and touch interface. Here’s how it breaks down:
The Good
- Responsive Design: The app adapts well to different screen sizes, making it easy to play on various devices.
- Game Selection: With around 1,840 games, video poker titles are included among a vast array of other options.
- RTP Rates: Many video poker games feature an RTP of up to 96.3%, which is quite competitive.
The Bad
- Touch Interface: Some games can be clunky to navigate, particularly with touch controls—swipes and taps aren't always recognised accurately.
- Wagering Requirements: A 35x wagering requirement on bonuses can be steep for casual players looking to cash out quickly.
- Withdrawal Times: The processing times tend to be on the longer side, usually taking between 23-47 hours to clear.
The Ugly
- Limited Customer Support: The support options are somewhat lacking, with no live chat feature available on mobile, which can be frustrating during gameplay.
- No Local Licensing: As there are no DIA-licensed operators currently, playing at Degen Casino comes with inherent risks and uncertainties.
- Mobile App Stability: I encountered occasional crashes during gameplay. This can be particularly frustrating when trying to enjoy a quick game on the go.
Comparison Table of Popular Video Poker Games
| Game Title | RTP (%) | Min Bet (NZD) | Max Bet (NZD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jacks or Better | 96.3 | 0.10 | 10.00 |
| Deuces Wild | 97.1 | 0.50 | 25.00 |
| Bonus Poker | 97.0 | 0.20 | 20.00 |
| Double Bonus Poker | 98.2 | 0.50 | 50.00 |
Final Thoughts
Playing video poker at Degen Casino can be enjoyable, especially if you appreciate a wide game selection and decent RTP rates. However, the mobile user experience leaves something to be desired, particularly regarding touch responsiveness and customer support. If you’re a Kiwi looking to play poker on the go, weigh these pros and cons before diving in. One thing I'd flag: while the app has potential, it needs refinement to truly shine.
